Cherner Chair Company classic molded plywood chairs designed by Norman Cherner in
1958, were featured on the NBC Today Show
Coverage of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece and on HBO's popular television series "Sex and the
City". Cherner stools and Cherner chairs were selected by "Sex and the
City" production designers to be part of Alexsandr Petrovsky's
(Mikhail Baryshnikov) "ultra-chic" apartment in New York City's SoHo
neighborhood. Photographs of Petrovsky's fictitious New York City apartment
including Cherner armchairs were featured in the January 2004 issue of Us
Weekly.

"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." Design guru Thom Filicia, selected the
Cherner Stool Counter Height that was featured on both Bravo and ABC. The
Cherner Stool in Walnut utilizes a molded
plywood seat with a unique construction of laminated plywood of graduated
thickness. This feature, plus the molding of compound curves, permits a
structurally superior Cherner barstool, which is sculpted in form and ergonomically
designed.

Katy Couric and the design team of the NBC Today Show
selected
Cherner Bar Stools for use on the set of the NBC Today Show for their coverage of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
The Today Show set featured the Cherner Bar Stool in walnut
with custom upholstering on the seat and back. Cherner Stools in natural
European beech with custom upholstering were used during NBC's coverage of the 2004
Olympics. Cherner barstools and Cherner counter stools utilize a molded plywood seat with a unique
construction of laminated plywood of graduated thickness. This feature, plus the
molding of compound curves, permits a structurally superior Cherner stool, which is
sculpted in form and ergonomically designed.
On
October 20, 2003 the city of Los Angeles dedicated its newest attraction and
architectural masterpiece, The Walt Disney Concert Hall
designed by Frank O. Gehry & Partners. The Cherner Chair Company was
honored to have its Cherner Barstools included as part of this striking
interior design. The Disney Concert Hall selected a
Cherner barstool designed with laminated bent plywood legs and molded
plywood seats. Finished in "Stella Orange", Cherner barstools were installed just prior
to the official dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.
